« The quintessence of terroir »
The plots for this cuvée are located around the family home of the estate, featuring chartreuse-style architecture. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon take root in gravelly soil over blue clays, unique, rare and prestigious on the right bank of Bordeaux.
These vines over 80 years old possess exceptional genetics and terroir for making great wines. Small, concentrated grape clusters are harvested. Aging 100% in oak barrels reveals the intensity and balance of this wine, with great aging potential.
The Cuvée de la Chartreuse represents the soul of the estate. From octogenarian vines rooted in exceptional terroir – the blue clays – these harvests produce a wine of rare concentration and elegance.
